HOLY CRAP!

 Just started thinking about the meds my DH takes, and wondering if they could be affecting his sperm (he was on zero meds when I got pg with the first 2 kids)...
He has epilepsy and, for awhile, he was taking a particular epilepsy med that gave him a tiredness/depression side-effect... he started taking Celexa (antidepressant) to counter this side-effect.
Anywho, he recently switched to a different epilepsy drug that he is tolerating much better, and has started talking about weaning off the Celexa (anti-depressant) because he no longer needs it... and, APPARENTLY, not a moment too soon!!! After researching it, it sounds like antidepressants in general (and Celexa in particular) can cause major male fertility issues!

Who knows if we even had a real chance at conceiving to begin with over the past 2 months?!
Guess who's tapering off their Celexa, starting today? ;)

The main ingredient in this stuff is L-Carnitine, which is supposed to increase sperm count. Make sure he is taking a multivite daily, and maybe pick up a bottle of this stuff which can be found in the vitamin aisle. The Fertilaid itselef is like $30.00 per bottle, and is basically a multivite with this L-Carnitine added to it.
Cant hurt, right?

Be careful with meds...esp the seizure ones! I'd talk to your dr to do a run-down on what side effects each of his meds can cause. I know when I was on seizure meds they put me on one that would be safe if I were to accidentally get pregnant. If they can do that for a woman I'm sure they can find a combination that would be safe for your DH. Good luck!!!
